There are seven Northern Kentucky counties in the Cincinnati Core Based Statistical Area (CBSA).

With an estimated population in 2007 of 411,409 residents in those counties, Northern Kentucky represents 19.5% of the total CBSA population of 2,109,410.

In 2007, the median age in Northern Kentucky was 34.2 years, younger than the statewide average of 36 years and a national average of 35.3 years. Northern Kentucky's decrease in median age reflects an increase in the number of persons age 24 and under.
