Characteristics of Northern Kentucky workforce include:

  • A 12.4% growth rate in the civilian labor force since 2000
  • A diversified economy: 44.9% of total jobs in the business sector, 44.1% of total jobs in the service industries, and 11.04% of total jobs in manufacturing
  • A younger workforce with a median age of 34.1 years, compared to 35.3 for the U.S.
  • Kentucky has an efficient and equitable system for fairly compensating demonstrated instances of work related injuries. Kentucky’s workers’ compensation comparative cost for the manufacturing sector is about one and a half percent (2.4%) below the national average as of January 2009 (Actuarial & Technical Solutions, Inc.). 
  • Lower union representation
  • A commitment for a superior workforce through state funded job training grants, programs ranked fifth in the U.S. by Expansion Management magazine.
