Northern Kentucky Employers: Service Industries
The U.S. Department of Labor, Census Bureau beginning in 2001, defined the service industry as encompassing new job opportunities driven by the transition to a knowledge-based economy, as well as those jobs typically thought of as service.
This new type of economy is referred to as an information society where jobs are based on services, education, and creative activities. This transformation includes industry sectors in retail, information, FIRE, Professional, Scientific and Technical Services, Management of Companies, Administrative and Support Services, Educational Services, Health Care, Creativity Occupations and Accommodation and Food Services.
