COVINGTON, KY 10/23/06 - GSI Commerce Inc. (Nasdaq: GSIC) has selected Richwood, KY, as home for the company's newest fulfillment center. With the addition of the Richwood facility, GSI Commerce, a leading provider of e-commerce solutions, will operate five fulfillment centers in the commonwealth. The other four facilities are located in Louisville and Shepherdsville, KY. Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher stated, “I am pleased GSI Commerce, a high growth company, will add another facility in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, generating hundreds of new employment opportunities for Kentucky residents.”
The new center in Richwood is expected to create 500 jobs for Kentucky residents during the next three years and continue the fast paced job growth in the region. “We chose Northern Kentucky for our newest fulfillment operation because we found the region to have a qualified and available workforce, a facility that can meet our requirements, and the state provided attractive economic incentives for us,” said Bob Wuesthoff, GSI Commerce executive vice president for global operations.
The new facility will have 540,000 square feet and is located in IDI’s Park South in Richwood, a high growth area in Boone County, approximately 10 miles south of downtown Cincinnati. “GSI Commerce is an ideal fit with our expanding business community,” said Gary Moore, Judge Executive for Boone County and Board Member for Northern Kentucky Tri-County Economic Development Corporation. “This is one more example of Northern Kentucky’s success in attracting successful companies to the region. GSI Commerce is the second retail distribution and logistics firm to locate in Northern Kentucky this year.
