Hospitals

The Greater Cincinnati CMSA has 7,668 beds among the 30+ community hospitals, eight of which are approved for physician residency programs by the American Medical Association. The Greater Cincinnati area is a national leader in health care. The area is served by more than 30 hospitals and more than 20 general acute-care facilities supplemented by institutions with specialized services. These include:

  1. St. Elizabeth Healthcare recognized by US News & World Report as among the best in the United States for respiratory and neurology/neurosurgery,
  2. the world-renowned Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and the Shriners Pediatric Burn Center is located in Cincinnati, 
  3. and the highly regarded University of Cincinnati Medical Center with the College of Medicine graduating approximately 200 physicians each year.

The University of Cincinnati Medical Center is ranked among the top 10 nationally in funding for molecular genetics, environmental health, obstetrics and gynecology, and pediatrics.

Other care services are provided by nursing homes, home health care, mental health centers, freestanding emergency care clinics, outpatient centers, sports medicine clinics, physical therapy services, trauma centers, hospice programs for the terminally ill, and a hospital-based helicopter air care service for emergency care.
