Northern Kentucky Employers: Headquarters

The Northern Kentucky area is host to two Fortune companies, Ashland and General Cable. The most important location factors for headquarters relocating or expanding in Northern Kentucky are:

  • Concentrations of business services,
  • Low intra-urban commuting times,
  • Good airline connections,
  • Low cost of living,
  • Low real estate costs,
  • Good K-12 education,
  • High worker productivity, and
  • Urban amenities and a high quality of life.

Additionally, a number of headquarters appear to originate as entrepreneurial and are owned by local residents. The Commonwealth of Kentucky promotes entrepreneurialship through the Kentucky Economic Initiative Act (KEIA).
