Colleges and Universities
More than 40 Universities, Colleges and Technical Schools are located in the Greater Cincinnati metro area, 37 are within a thirty-minute drive. The total enrollment for these institutions of higher learning is nearly 110,000 students. U.S. News & World Report recently included four Tri-State colleges and universities in its rankings of "America's Best Colleges 2008".
Among the universities are:
- Founded in 1968 as Northern Kentucky State College, evolved from a community college to gain autonomous university status in 1976
- First educational institution in the world to have a laser projection planetarium system
