Colleges and Universities
More than 49 Universities, Colleges, and Technical Schools are located within less than a sixty minute drive from any location in the Greater Cincinnati metro area. The total enrollment for these institutions of higher learning is nearly 300,000 students and more than 51,000 graduates seeking advanced degrees. U.S. News & World Report recently included 18 of these colleges and universities in its rankings of "America's Best Colleges 2009".
Among the universities are:
- Founded in 1968 as Northern Kentucky State College, evolved from a community college to gain autonomous university status in 1976
- First educational institution in the world to have a laser projection planetarium system
- Fourth largest university in Kentucky with an enrollment of 14,785 students and 2nd largest university in the Cincinnati MSA
