Boone County: Northern Kentucky

Population: 112,116 (Source: Right Site Analytical Software, 2007). Over the past five years, Boone County has added 11 new citizens a day, making it Kentucky's fastest growing county. 

Boone County is the area in the westernmost part of the three Northern Kentucky counties. It is generally bounded by the Ohio River on its north and west side and by Interstate 75/71 on most of its east side. Boone County is a major contributor to the Cincinnati CBSA as well as a central transportation hub for the region as home of the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport. Delivering a greater impact are the hundreds of companies and more than 60,000 people working in Boone County and contributing to the tremendous investment of the area.   

Topography: The most level of the region's varying topography. Boone County's industrial areas are near interstates and the airport, providing the necessary infrastructure and other amenities making it inviting for prospective companies.

Florence (Estimated 2007 Population – 26,887)

Florence Government Center is located at 8100 Ewing Boulevard. The City of Florence has a Mayor-Council form of government with non-partisan, at-large elections. The Mayor is elected for a four-year term, the six-member Council is elected every two years. The City is in the 66th Legislative District, 11th Senatorial District and the 144th U.S. Congressional District.

Florence is home to a large number of employers in the industrial fields and to many hotels, restaurants and shopping centers. The 2007 median age is 33.1 and the median income is $47,788. Florence has the largest retail district in Kentucky.

Union (Estimated 2007 Population – 4,388)

The City of Union is a residential community of middle to upscale single-family homes, intermingled with small agricultural estates, in a beautiful rolling landscape raning from heavily wooded areas to pastureland. The progress Union has experienced has made the City one of the fastest growing areas in one of the fastest growing counties in Kentucky.

This semi-rural community offers easy access and is just minutes away from shopping, the airport and downtown Cincinnati. The City Building is located approximately 2 1/2 miles west of Interstate I-75-71 via Exit 178. The 2007 median age is 30.6 and the median income is $92,008.

Walton (Estimated 2007 Population – 2,593)

The City of Walton, located in the southeastern corner of Boone County, has a large drawing market for employment. Within a 20 mile radius of the City is Cincinnati, Covington, Independence, Florence, Richwood, and Dry Ridge.

The City has its own Water Service District. Sanitation District #1 of Northern Kentucky is contracted to take care of the city's two sewer plants. There are currently four industrial areas in the City, and housing continues to expand at a steady pace. The Walton-Verona School District is one of the top districts in the state. Walton offers the perfect locations for those seeking a serene country atmosphere with major metropolitan advantages nearby. The 2007 median age is 33.9 and the median income is $51,442.
